A couple of days before officially starting the Auto Show in Los Angeles, Volkswagen presented a possible addition to its range of Passat. This is the Volkswagen Passat GT Concept , a vehicle that departs from the rest of the Passat lineup thanks to features red accents and colored stickers that indicate that it is the GT model.
“The Passat GT is a preview of how the new Volkswagen in the region of North America will meet the needs and desires of US customers in the future,” said Matthias Erb, chief engineer for the region. “We have the freedom and responsibility to shape future vehicles in North America here in the United States, combining engineering resources around the world with our unique perspectives and our talented local team”.
Among the differences found concept model and the actual model are finished in red around the honeycomb that remind us of the details of the Golf GTI type grill. There are also different in finished bumpers, window frames, black roof spoiler in the trunk, LED headlights, dark taillights and a dual exhaust system. The wheels are 19 inches and include calipers in red.
Although we do not believe that all these details reach all Volkswagen models in the future, they are finished products that we like and look good in concept. The Passat received a small facelift last year, so surely will receive a new generation within two or three years.
On the inside we find carbon fiber finishes on the doors and dashboard, while the seats are finished in gray and black color, giving it a more elegant touch. The contrasting seams have been present in other models of Volkswagen, and the Passat GT is no exception.
Power comes from the same 3.6-liter V-6 that we know in the current Passat, which produces 280 horsepower and is coupled to a transmission type six-speed DSG.
