Ford calls to review more than 88,000 vehicles

 

Ford is calling for review around 88,000 models latest model in North America because of a problem that could lead to the cars stop. The call for revision affects some Ford Flex , Taurus and Police Interceptors and Lincoln MKS and MKT model years 2013-2015.

Problem: A control module in the fuel pump could fail, and as a result, drivers may not be able to start the engine. Alternatively, the engine could stop without warning while the vehicle is in motion and drivers may not be able to restart it. Ford says it has no knowledge of accidents or injuries related to the subject.

The solution: Ford will notify customers to take their vehicles for repairs from 17 October. Dealers will replace the control modules of the fuel pump at no cost to customers.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: The call to review covers about 88.151 Ford vehicles, including 77.502 vehicles in the United States. Affected vehicles include Ford Taurus and Flex and Lincoln MKS and MKT 2013-2105 with 3.5 – liter turbo gasoline. Some vehicles Ford Police Interceptor 2013-2015 are also involved.

Another call for separate review, but similar, involving the Ford Transit 2015-2016 with diesel engines with injection pumps defective fuel.

 

Problem: The fuel injection pump may malfunction, which could prevent the engine from starting or could come to stand while driving. Ford is not aware of some accidents or injuries related to this problem.

Solution: Dealers will inspect the fuel system for possible metal contamination. If there is any pollution, dealers will replace the fuel injection pumps and all its parts. If there is contamination, dealers will empty the fuel system and replace the fuel injection pump, fuel injectors and the fuel filter.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: The call for review includes the Ford Transit 2015-2016 equipped with 3.2 – liter diesel engine. About 2,472 vehicles are affected, and 2,013 of them are in the United States.
