BMW Z4 production ends

After seven years of production, the BMW Z4 ceased to be built. According Bimmer Today, on 22 August, a Z4 sDrive35is Valencia Orange Metallic color , left the plant in Regensburg, Germany as the last unit of the popular roadster BMW .

The first-generation Z4 proved popular, but the second generation model did not maintain the same momentum. During its production cycle, a little more than 113,000 units were produced globally, and US sales were very low. In 2015, BMW sold only 1,829 units of the Z4, while Mercedes managed to sell 4,182 SLK.

However, that low popularity popularity was not due to a lack of performance. The Z4 was the only model that followed the N54 six-cylinder engine online. In the 35is version, the 3.0 – liter engine delivering 335 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque, enough to propel the Z4 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds.

But there is no reason to be sad, because BMW will have a successor in the future. The alliance between Toyota and BMW has yet to bear fruit, but expect to see a successor to the Z4 that is based on the Toyota-BMW sports next Supra . Although there are no details yet, we have heard reports that the vehicle could have a turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine or a new hybrid engine. The Supra / Z5 surely be built by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria.
